Another successful round of our two day Handgun Level 1 this past weekend! Our most popular live-fire course offers new and seasoned shooters alike some structured practice time with their own handguns or those provided free of charge by Silvercore.
On day one we discuss a myriad of subjects relating to handgun shooting and delve significantly into the principles of marksmanship. We use the opportunity of the classroom setting to engage in dry-fire drills with deactivated practice guns to get a solid foundation for day two of live-fire at the range. We also have a full laser simulator using our deactivated guns with laser inserts to run drills and range scenarios to help with the skill development making day two that much smoother.
Day two begins immediately with getting into live drills that were practiced the previous day. Marksmanship skill and safety are the focus of the day building the skill-sets students can take away and reinforce on their own at the range. Mixed into the drills is a competition or two and finally a modified Use of Force course of fire to test skill development by the end of day. The day is wrapped up by shooter’s choice skills to work on deficiencies and a section on handgun cleaning and maintenance.
Students are now prepared for Handgun Level 2!
On Tuesday, March 12th, Silvercore provided its instructors a special training day at the Justice Institute of British Columbia range to develop and improve their instruction and shooting skill-sets. The day was taught by Nick Bolton a former VPD police officer, Justice Institute of British Columbia police academy instructor and Firearms Academy of Seattle Master Instructor. The course covered instructional methodology, advanced gun handling and tactical shooting skills at an advanced level. There was even a competition for prizes at the end of the day to keep up the competitive spirit and add some performance stress!
Silvercore prides itself on being Canada’s best, most professional and leading authority on firearms training available to the public market. As such we demand a high level of skill from all of our instructors and continue to educate and test their skills to ensure they perform to high standard as a model to all of our students.
