Things have been busy in the last few weeks here at Silvercore. Our ammo contest is in full swing and if you want to get in on it now’s the time! You can win 1000 rounds of 9mm one of two ways: Simply “like” us on Facebook and / or our Google Plus page and include a written review. Once you have submitted your review email us at email@example.com with a link to that review. You will be entitled to one contest entry for the Facebook review and one contest entry for the Google Plus review. When our Facebook page reaches 1250 likes we will draw the prize and announce the winner. There’s still some time left before we reach the magic number – but not much!
We also recently completed a stretch of two back to back Handgun 1 courses last week; on Thursday/Friday and Saturday/Sunday. Both were full and the students did a fantastic job. We had a lot of fun and everyone shot well over both courses. Handgun 1 is our introductory handgun shooting course that guides the student through the fundamentals of handgun shooting, principles of marksmanship and gives the student a sound, solid platform to work from in order to practice and improve their skills over time. We also tackle cleaning, maintenance and several legal concepts in relation to restricted firearms.
Silvercore continually strives to maintain our position as the industry leader in firearms training and personal safety in Canada to both the public and corporate markets.
During the first week of April Silvercore ran its 5 day Use of Force training course at the Justice Institute of British Columbia. In Canada it is federally mandated training required to receive an Authorization to Carry in order to work in the Armoured Car industry. The platform of firearms used in the course varied according to each company’s needs bringing together an interesting variety of revolvers and semi-autos.
Silvercore prides itself on being Canada’s best, most professional and leading authority on firearms training available to our corporate clients and the public market. Our Use of Force training is delivered in a manner consistent with all of the Canadian federal Use of Force guidelines and the mandated curriculum ensuring the Armoured Car recruits receive the best, most applicable and useful training possible. Our Use of Force Instructors are former long-time members of the Armoured Car community, bringing a wealth of experience, realism and providing industry specific information that contributes to the relevance of the material being taught.
Another successful round of our two day Handgun Level 1 this past weekend! Our most popular live-fire course offers new and seasoned shooters alike some structured practice time with their own handguns or those provided free of charge by Silvercore.
On day one we discuss a myriad of subjects relating to handgun shooting and delve significantly into the principles of marksmanship. We use the opportunity of the classroom setting to engage in dry-fire drills with deactivated practice guns to get a solid foundation for day two of live-fire at the range. We also have a full laser simulator using our deactivated guns with laser inserts to run drills and range scenarios to help with the skill development making day two that much smoother.
Day two begins immediately with getting into live drills that were practiced the previous day. Marksmanship skill and safety are the focus of the day building the skill-sets students can take away and reinforce on their own at the range. Mixed into the drills is a competition or two and finally a modified Use of Force course of fire to test skill development by the end of day. The day is wrapped up by shooter’s choice skills to work on deficiencies and a section on handgun cleaning and maintenance.
Students are now prepared for Handgun Level 2!
On Tuesday, March 12th, Silvercore provided its instructors a special training day at the Justice Institute of British Columbia range to develop and improve their instruction and shooting skill-sets. The day was taught by Nick Bolton a former VPD police officer, Justice Institute of British Columbia police academy instructor and Firearms Academy of Seattle Master Instructor. The course covered instructional methodology, advanced gun handling and tactical shooting skills at an advanced level. There was even a competition for prizes at the end of the day to keep up the competitive spirit and add some performance stress!
Silvercore prides itself on being Canada’s best, most professional and leading authority on firearms training available to the public market. As such we demand a high level of skill from all of our instructors and continue to educate and test their skills to ensure they perform to high standard as a model to all of our students.
